Learning Enrichment

Our aim is to encourage and assist the students to be the best they can be by providing a stimulating, nurturing and enthusiastic learning environment.

The Learning Enrichment centre aims to promote an atmosphere of achievement and success, and to increase in all students, positive feelings of self worth and self-concept.  Whilst a student’s sense of comfort is paramount, emphasis is placed on overcoming gaps in knowledge and up skilling students to become better communicators, through listening, reading and writing.

The Learning Enrichment centre provides support and enrichment for all learners through a variety of clubs, programmes and lessons.  Students are assessed when entering the College.  The information gained through this assessment is one of the tools used to identify whether further testing, support or extension is required.

  • Design, implement, monitor and adjust individualised programmes for learners with particular learning needs, or strong learning styles.
  • Through implementation of Literacy and Numeracy programmes via individual, small group and peer support we aim to assist children to acquire appropriate independent strategies and to fill the gaps in their knowledge.
  • Up-skill students with specific learning difficulties.
  • Support students with organisational difficulties through direct instruction in time management strategies.
  • Liaise with parents, and where appropriate external therapists/professionals to provide a comprehensive and cohesive management system for each student.

At present we enter teams in the Gateway8, Tournament of the Minds and HICES Maths challenges.

Embedded throughout our Learning Support and Enrichment philosophy is the development of the student’s whole self: a positive sense of themselves which is created through a firm belief in their own abilities. This enables them to strive to be the best they can be and become life long learners.
